Why I’m Building OrbitEd in Public.

The “Development Orbit”

If you’re reading this, you’ve arrived at OrbitEd while the paint is still wet.

As a current Head of Physics and a Trust Lead for AI Strategy within the UK state sector, my days are spent in the lab and the staffroom, not in a marketing suite. I’m building this consultancy "in public" because I believe the best educational tools are forged in the reality of the classroom, not in a vacuum.

A Practitioner's Perspective

The rise of generative AI in education has moved incredibly fast. In my daily work across a large secondary school and a multi-academy trust, I see the friction points firsthand: the workload pressure on staff, the ethical questions around student integrity, and the "digital divide" facing our families.

OrbitEd is my way of documenting what actually works. This blog - or "The Lab," as I prefer to call it - won't be full of corporate jargon or generic tech hype. Instead, it will be a repository for:

  • Pilot Insights: Honest reflections on implementing AI tools within a busy school environment.

  • Physics-Led Thinking: Using my background in Theoretical Physics to demystify the "black box" of how these models actually function.

  • Practical Frameworks: Resources and prompt libraries that have been tested at the "chalkface" before being shared here.

Join the Orbit

I am currently in a research and development phase, refining our three core strands: OrbitStaff, OrbitStudents, and OrbitFamily.

OrbitEd is an independent venture, born from a desire to share evidence-based strategies with the wider educational community. If you are a school leader or a fellow practitioner interested in how we can use AI to protect the human heart of teaching, I’d love to connect.

I am preparing to launch our full consultancy services and pilot programs for the Autumn 2026 term. Until then, watch this space. The universe of education is aligning, and I'm excited to navigate it with you.
